Springs look to be intact and not broken, so should just need new foam and covers.

Shop asked for some pictures. Gonna send them tomorrow and see about a quote.

And how do I get the brake light lense off? 4 screws are out and I am guessing they just pop off, but they seem really brittle and I dont want to destroy them if I can help it. I'm guessing they have juat been on so long that the seal has them welded to the housing.

Yep. Just “glued” on with age. Pry carefully.

And what is the proper hardware for this cover? Cause I know it is not garage door screws...

Plan:

1. Carb
2. Seats
3. Clutch
4. Swine soirée

Carefully pry'd. Metal Housing is in perfect shape! Gonna polish the lenses and put it all back together.

Other side is cracked about halfway down so pulling it off may be a bit more of an adventure. Will just have to work it from the not broken side up.

Any good advice on polishing the old plastic lenses? Turtle wax? rubbing compound? Other?

@Hugh Heifer i read your reaponse to Erin and her exact words were "wait, what years?" I'm not sure I can afford her habit for much longer....
Lol. A pair. 64 and 65 for 2500. Step side. Ran when parked!

Wow! Awesome! Find yourself some new lense seals to keep the housing looking like that. Just pulled mine apart yesterday and found a bunch of rust. I think Cruiser Outfitters has them, or Cruiser Corps.

Made a call to @cruiseroutfit for a clutch kit this afternoon.

Also called the upholstery shop this afternoon. With no air, I asked about doing perforated leather where the pattern sections are with reticulated backing....

Got something in mind to help make summer cruisin' more tolerable.

stay tuned...

I use sheets of Remflex for the carb gaskets. I have a .35 caliber brass that punches the holes perfectly.

Intake bolt. It’s gotta stay. Grind around it.

PS pump. If it ain’t broke.....

Grommets. Some. I just use generic plugs. Gorilla tape. Foam. Whatever. Just fill em up.

@nvrlose54 says FJ62 door gaskets fit on a FJ55.

I used ones from www.slocruisers.com

I took Fj62 gaskets off and slide them right into the pig channel. The bottom will need adhesive, the rest sits in the channel.

Today's deliverys: helicoil for carb adapter and new headlights.

No garage time tonight, but maybe tomorrow I will get it back up and running.
Clutch should be here Monday.

Ok, so I have a question. Any of you guys put a EFI setup on your F or 2F? I want to eventually ditch the weber and was planning to go back to a more OE setup, Trollhole, JimC, CityRacer or the like, but I was kicking around over at Mosley Motors and looking at the pictures of the setup @FJ60Cam put on @JTU's 40 now has me thinking I may just skip the carb and just do the EFI swap. @Mrsjynx plan is for us to plan an epic roadtrip with our little girl out west in the pig in a couple years, and with that in mind, I am now contemplating saving some pennies and just making the EFI jump.

Any of you done it. I'd love to here some feedback. I know the F is not ever going to be an LS, but seems that the EFI might improve overall driveability. It also appears that the TBI setup might not conflict as badly with a booster and dual circuit setup as the trollhole and Cityracer carbs do.

Appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks.

I am a huge fan of EFI, though I don't have any qualms about not keeping stock either. More efficient, no issues with altitude, moisture, cold inclines. I can't see a mechanical reason not to.

Currently consulting with @FJ60Cam on a potential solution. Stay tuned on that front.

New gaskets done!

No more squeal! Took him for a spin around the block. Rain rolled in about halfway around the block. Back in the garage now.

Erin put the new headlights in. Much better.

The rings need a good cleaning and most of the hardware needs replacing with the proper fine thread phillips.

Now the next thing is getting a new turn signal switch.

Ive looked at the oes on CruiserCorps, and they show that the '69 should still be the old style, but this looks like the later style switch. Thoughts. The turn signal works fine, but the headlight dimmer is broken. One of the ears that the thru pin locate in are broken off and the pin is missing. I can pull the lever completely out of the column.

Do I have to pull the steering wheel to remove that trim ring and get to the switch?

Thanks

Here's a closer pic. You can see where the pin is supposed to go. The upper ear is the one that is broken.
