Meet Moose, our 1969 FJ55

I have some laying around that I may fit up for the interim. The wheels were on a SA 4runner before so I figure if I swap to an SA pickup disc setup (which I've had in the back of my mind for a while) then they should clear. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

Any updates? What’s going on with “Moose”?
Welp, ** looks at his feet and kicks some gravel on the floor** with several other projects in line ahead of it, he has just been hanging out in the front of the shop. I keep the battery fresh and start him up every week or so, but for the most part, he has just been keeping a low profile holding down his spot.

I have some electrical updates that I need to finish up on him that I may try to work on soon, but getting the brakes fixed on the 80 and the cooling system sorted on the WarPig are higher priority right now.

Oh, yeah. I forgot that you had that War-Pig too. The wheeler and the stock grocery-getter. Pretty good setup really, best of both worlds.
Maybe some new pics of the Moose?
That I can definitely do. I'll wheel him out tomorrow after we get back.

Lol, sorry guys I didn't have a chance to get him out today. Travel day for us and had Christmas program this afternoon at church.

Well, I figured I'd give a quick update. I need to finish up the headlight upgrade. Got these fancy OE conversion bulbs installed a while back but never finished the wiring because I wanted to clean up the battery wiring.

Today I pulled the box off the fender and hit it with the wire wheel and a little 150 grit and then put a coat of primer on it.

Now I need to make new + and - cables and get the battery back in. And clean up the fender a little.

The positive cable is about 6' too long and it needs new terminals. After I finish this I'm gonna do a little investigating on the charging system.

Long bolt for the retainer on top of the battery fits in those slots. Adjustable, I guess, for battery size. My '73 body has 'em.

^^ What he said

Not sure why there are 2 slots unless there is a different box made because to use the other slot I would have to make a new mount since mine are the ones that pivot but are in a hinge on the box.

Put a coat of gloss black on the tray.

Then started to clean up the hold down. No idea if this is the oe top, but the little connectors are a little corroded, so cut a piece of flat bar to reinforce it.

If I feel froggy, I might add this bar to the top.

Probably won't get to the welder til this weekend, but we'll see how it goes.

Depending on the Batt you choose that strap will interfere with the cell caps?

It actually goes across the short distance.

Old picture, but you can see it goes across the battery, not long ways.

Should be ok.
