I would not do it, if you do be very careful. The media is almost imposable to keep out or get out of the breather baffle area. It has a nasty habit of coming out in the motor after the job is done, with predictable results. I would chemically clean it only.

So get the valve cover hot tanked instead? Well I guess in that case any shop recommendations for hot tanking?

What part of town, I know of a couple of machine shops in Mesa? How bad is it, I usually spray/soak with engine gunk, then hose off or take it to the car wash.:hillbilly:

Well I took a shot in the dark and had Band B machine shop do it. They were quick. i dropped it off at 12:30 and picked it up about 30 min ago. Only cost 10 bucks and the guy who runs its was a decent fellow. I asked what they would charge me to sand blast my wiper arms because they are all rusted and he said no charge. Plus they have done a few land cruiser head jobs. The outside of my valve cover is a little rough but its clean so I wonder if I should sand it with some 600 grit to take the roughness down. I do want to paint my valve cover.

No problem with sanding it, just be careful to keep the debris out of the breather box area. After being dipped I would soak in water and rinse/flush the breather to make sure all of the chem is out. The breather box is a labyrinth/maze, it's purpose is to separate liquid and vapor, so anything in there will leach back into the motor.
