Anyone have some good leads on a reasonably good and reasonably affordable media / sand blast operation in the Charlotte area???

Need to get my trailer prepped for priming and paint, but for a small (5x7) trailer people want $400+ to blast it! Hearing things like "it's going to take all day" and things like that... Based on the size and the fact that there's no significant rust (very little surface rust only) I'm really finding that hard to believe...

So what do you think it should cost to sand blast this? Any recommendations on who to call? (Anything in Charlotte to Statesville to Concord I'd drive to for right price.)

Can you rent one?

Quick follow up on the rental options...

I found that you can rent them, $80 and up/day but they "require" a compressor pushing 50 cfm @ 100 psi, thats HUGE. That means a diesel, pull behind level compressor, another $90+/day. Then, add the media which can be ~$8-10/50 lb bag and you can easily burn through 10-15 bags on a project like a trailer.

I re-capture my media to minimize that cost but if its a one time rental, its not feasible to do. Doing the math, it appears like the $400 isn't that bad of an option unless one likes to be picking sand out of their ears for a few days...

PM Cirbo here on the board. I know he has had good experience with that Hot Rod shop down in Waxhaw that he has used for alot of stuff. I know there is a place out in monroe that does that stuff too, I just cant remember the name, He would also know that places name as well. I think its something like Drake Powder coating, or Drake coatings.

Call Robbins Sandblasting in Winston. They are on 109. They just quoted me $100 to blast the inside of my 40. I wound up doing it myself because they couldn't start for a week and I needed it faster than that.

Thanks guys. I'll try the above suggestions...will let you know what happens.

Independent Technologies is the streetrod shop I use. I've always found them to be reasonable. I usually have them blast and epoxy etch prime at the same time. I can try to get you price if you'd like. My contact is Gary, the owner. Phone is 704-296-9036. I was also using a guy in Rock Hill, but he's tough to contact. The powder coater I use in Monroe is Drake Coatings. They will blast as well, but I've not used them for that only so can't speak on prices.
