Gm mechanical injection from the 50s really only worked well at WFO. It was problimatic otherwise.

Bosch constant fuel pressure type is loved by those who are good with it and hated by those of us that aren't. It would work if it was ever put on something of the 2Fs size and powerband.

earlier today I surveyed a guys property that is/builds drag racers. He had a drag car with a 1.3 lt jetta motor / turbo / mech FI. He told me that it's going to be on the cover of the next hot rod vw magazine (or what ever the hot rod vw magazine is called). He said the motor turns out about 800hp on just methanol, no NOS..

I had an '89 Audi 200 Turbo with "Jetronic" mechanical fuel injection. It had an injection module that used an air-metering system to control the injector pump. It may be similar to a Bosch system. It was fairly simple, but the parts pricing and availability was tough.

Why don't you go electronic fuel injection? It's easier than mechanical and more precise. I once built a carbed Chevy 350 w/ twin throttle bodies on a tunnel ram. It used to be carbed and I drilled and threaded a few sensors here and there. Put an o2 sensor in the exhaust. The computer and wiring came from an 84 Corvette which was the cross fire set up. The Crossfire sucked on these cars because of the intake. It worked real good on mine. Being that you have a inline six then you'll have to look at the Ford eec-4 for the six cylinder 300 or if you want to stay Toyota then there arealm of six's to chose from for engine management. The supras had em. You can use a v-6 management system as well. Just my .02:beer:

Hi, I have worked alot on cis systems and they do workwell but require alot of tinkering and the simplest adjustments require special tools. They are not the best setup for rattleing arourd offroad if the plunger gets bounced it will die if it is bounced to much it will fall out of adjustment. Have you looked at the fuel injection kits from sor or maf? They seem to be a very simple throttle body set up with easy to find parts. Anyway good luck..Ben

I built up a megasquirt standalone fuel injection system for my VW 16v turbo project, controlling both fuel and spark. It's pretty amazing what it can do, and the price is very reasonable. www.megasquirt.info

I used to have a an old 1972 BMW 2002 Tii with Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection, it worked great, but was something you had to have a kung fu blackbelt in to get working better than just so so. Trust me, I tried. It did not go well.

My buddy has an old 911 with the P car version of this, MFI...he swears by it, but again, it's gotta be dialed in by a master not just a shade tree job.

Both cars pulled pretty hard when dialed in well. CIS took over and surpassed MFI but back in the day it worked well.

I'd probably do electronic these days just because its so much easier for a normal person with out extensive training to get working (me).

Had an old 70s triumph 2.5 six with MFI, went real well but needed to be maintained.Had plenty over the carbed ones, some of the open top TRs might of had it too.
