My sister moved to Nashville a little while back and it's a little too far for me to travel to work on her car. Can anyone recommend a reputable mechanic to replace an alternator on a Kia?

Not sure where she is in relation to Nolensville, but if she can get down there, I would recommend Mill Creek Automotive. Albert is a great guy and he is a bit of a cruiser head (he drives a 92 FJ80) and his head mechanic has a built 40, but he can work on pretty much anything. He had a S2000, a 3000GT, an old T-bird, a CJ7, a Porsche and an early 60s Impala all in the shop when we dropped off Erin's GX for an alignment.

I was Happy with his work and he was reasonable. I had him replace the PS front CV while he had it on the rack too. He seems like one of those that charges the actual hours, not book.

615-283-3454, Ask for Albert.

And you can tell him Matthew Tucker sent you if you do call, he might remember us as we were just in there recently, and I also sold him a FF rear axle last month.

If you google them, go to the facebook link as the website that comes up is the previous owners. He is working on a new one, but don't think he is quit there yet.

Also, that said, if she needs any assistance, let us know. I am sure we can get someone to give her an assist if she gets in a real bind.

Thanks for the info and offer. She near Mt. Julliet. One of the local store wanted $650 to replace the alternator, she knew that was too much and told them no thanks. I told her to keep looking and I would ask around on mud. Not sure if they were trying to take advantage of her, or what. A new denso alt is only 168.00 surely labor and and even a parts mark up shouldn't add 500. To the bill.

Thanks Matthew, spoke with Albert. Going to Try to get her down that way.

Holy Crap! $650 for an alternator install is criminal, now a starter on a 100 series, maybe, but not an alternator...

If Nolensville proves too far, I have a good friend that lives in the Mt Juliet area that I can ask for recommendations from. Also, @Monty231 lives over that way, and I think @ukaviator does too.

I've heard Hobbs and sons does good work. A friend of mine owns Hermitage Tire Center. Ask for Brandon (actually any of his guys will treat you well, I just know Brandon personally). I believe Dan @ukaviator takes his rigs to Jerry at European Motorworks on Industrial Dr.

Like Mathew said if she needs any help let us know we can probably make some arrangements.

Thanks guys will pass this along.
