SAS,

I ran Peters Mill on 4/19/11. At that time the only way to enter Peters Mill was from the north on SR 758 (the rangers had closed the last few miles that connect to SR 675 due to "trail damage"). Peters Mill trail head is just west of the Little Fort Camp ground on SR 758. We had a good ride - got stuck about mid way in a sand/mud pit (it had just rained, a lot, and my 16 year old son was driving - I think he wanted to get stuck so we could try out the winch) (see pic) but was able to get out with the Warn M1200 (thanks Nate at IPOR - great recommendation). Got to mile marker 2 and then had to turn around at the gate that closed the rest of the trail that would have come out on SR 675. Some fun rocks as you go up hill to mile marker 2 where you have to turn around at the gate. May want to call ranger station - trail might be completely open now and you might be able to enter at SR 675. Taskers Gap was completely closed that day because of trail damage.

I can't make it this weekend. Hope you have a great time!

Trucks developed some pulling to the left under braking that gets worse the harder you stab on the pedal. Im thinking that a caliper is on its way out so Im going to work on it tonight. Im hoping that I will be able to get everything back to normal from tomorrow. Might not make the breakfast though. What time is everyone rolling out of the IHOP? 10?

does anyone have and address for the IHOP and a meeting spot near the trail head?

i'm working on locating the trailhead based on previous posts, if someone beats to me to it, by all means... i was going to follow the caravan to the service station so i hadn't planned that far ahead yet.

PM sent to all who've indicated they can/might attend. FRI 6 MAY 1915hrs.

is exit 279 stony creek rd, st route 675, 185? Thats what my google maps tells me. Also, is this an air down, get ready for it type trial. Or just like the Feb trip. Either way, cant wait. Haven't put the new sliders to work yet.

ps. lets keep this ticket free, gas is high enough

Sounds like a good crowd for a private, non-sanctioned event. Hope you all have fun! Wish I could take the time and join you.

Update

Got to mile marker 14 and then had to turn around at the gate that closed the rest of the trail that would have come out on SR 675. Some fun rocks as you go up hill to mile marker 14 where you have to turn around at the gate. May want to call ranger station - trail might be completely open now and you might be able to enter at SR 675. Taskers Gap was completely closed that day because of trail damage.

Dropped by ranger station on Friday May 6th. Peters Mill is now open the whole way and can be accessed via SR 675. I ran it in less than an hour. Much drier now. The mud pit is all dried up and should not be a problem. Also note that the mile markers start at 675 and it is a 16 mile trail.

Hope everyone has fun.

SAS, clean out your mailbox...

Ill meet you guys out at IHOP closer to 10 before you all form up to leave. I won't make the breakfast part of it. I will reserve a spot at the end of the train as once the mountains start, you don't want to be behind this slow mover

Tracy,
Thanks for putting this together. It was a blast. I hope we can get out again soon.

Parker

Yes sir! I think we all had a good time--I know the kids, Lisa, and I did. Several of us met for breakfast including Ryan, Fernando, Bart, and myself. Jared came rolling in just as planned--right before departure. Bart, unfortunately, couldn't come with us for the remainder of the day.

Vince and Parker met us at the Shell station. The weather was perfect! Trail conditions were good, too (thanks for the info, Pegusas!)

To my surprise, this portion of the trail was re-conditioned by the Forest Service. They apparently had difficulty managing erosion, though I don't recall it being terribly eroded last Summer when I was there. It was easily passable by a stock 4x4 then; now it's like a gravel road.

We stopped a few times along the trail to hike some foot-paths. This one is atop a rocky climb, but well worth the view!

The flora was in full bloom, including these wild irises.

Another stop along the trail for hiking and a snack.

Our six Land Cruisers (one LX470, three FZJ80s, one FJ60 and one BJ60) meandered through the forest and splashed through the water puddles.

End of the trail and we then went to the Woodstock Tower. Great views!

Jared and Parker returned home, and the few of us remaining went to Wakeman's farm.

The hog roast started kinda' slow and there wasn't the turn out of August last year, but turned out to be a lot of fun, too. Here are two pictures from a "hay ride" behind the big tractor.

Perhaps this one will be dinner next Summer?!!!

Thanks to those who came--looking forward for more trail time at CMCC/Rausch Creek in July.

Hooray for photos. These are the only pictures of the 60 off road. Most of the ones I have are lame parking lot photos. Now the real fun begins...getting that crap off the truck. There will be at least an hour spent washing it tomorrow.

my boys and i had a lot of fun - Tracy, great meeting your family as their company kept my boys engaged. Vince, you're starting your girl off right! Ryan, Jared - good company as usual, Parker, good to meet you (again).

Tacy, you covered the exposed rocky stuff and the mudhole, so here are some shots of the other varied sections, and the staging/airdown/hublocking stop, as seen from the rear of the train.
