i know this is a re re re re re post, but i can't find exactly what i'm looking for

i installed the 1" mastercylinder this weekend, and a resevoir from a 95 4runner. looks nice, i see no easy way to mount up the fluid level sensor as i believe can be done with the right resevoir. at least i think i read that on here somewhere...

thre is a plug on the passenger side of the thing, is there a cable that plugs into the factory harness on one end and the resevoir on the other?

the soft rubber cap with sensor is too big for the 4runner resevoir.

so what did i miss o cruiser gurus and people who've done this already?

thanks

I would like to know similar information, except i have a 94-98 T-100 MC. Could i go to the dealership and get the proper male end and splice the connector onto the stock wiring (sorry for the hijack baldredhead, sounds like we have very similar problems though).

When I salvaged my reservoir from the pick a part place I cut off the connector on the wiring harness for the reservoir cap. I then made an adaptor using the old reservoir caps plug and the salvaged caps plug. Sounds kinda unclear but its really simple.

My problem is i didnt get mine from a junk yard, i got it new off ebay. I guess that means a trip to the junkyard is in store for me. Should the sensors work similarly enough that the system will still function properly if i cut splice in the proper MC connector?

This is a good thread... I had the exact same questions. I was going to order the reservoir from Marlin Crawler and it doesn't look like they come with any harness at all..

Anyone have an idea what a new harness costs?

I'm curious. I can also live with the brake light on (as I know others have) but I'd rather not...

Mine has gone off by itself, i think that the prongs on the connector are touching so the light stays off. It would be nice to be able to know if the brakes are going out before the fluid is all gone and i go to use them.

I ran around a couple of days without doing anything with the wiring, basically the wire from the cap was not connected to anything and my brake light was not on.

Edit: during normal operation with proper amount of brake fluid the cap acts like an open circuit. The circuit closes when the float falls below a preset level. So if your brake light is on and your reservoir cap is not connected their might be something else wrong.
