It's official...I have set up an AZ trail run event with Toyota America's offical FJ Cruiser Promo Team. Details for this event will be posted on Toyota America's FJ Cruiser Team website.
www.toyota.com/fjtrailteams

Thip details and invitations will go out to:

AZ Land Cruiser Association
AZ Copper State Cruisers
Expedition Portal (will attract 4Runners and Tacomas)

The date given by Brady of the FJ Team is June 10th. It's not every year that Toyota sends out teams of vehicles wheel accross the US. Look at that website at where they're going! At most events they give anybody turns at driving the FJ Cruiser on the trail!

If the FJ Team publishes the event via magazine, that's great. If not, I'll do the work and submit it to Toyota Trails.

I'll roll out all the details on ANOTHER thread soon. Here I'll say that the tentative plan is to run Smiley Rock near Jerome, or the Crown King Backroad. In case of fire danger/closures, I'll have a backup trail selected in each Natl Forest and a couple in non-forest areas.

So, stay tuned for details. The FJ team is hoping for a LARGE turnout to this event so they can promote it. Let's plug in and set our schedules!

John

Sounds like fun, thanks for doing the leg work on it.

POOP!!! I'm rolling into inventory then. No way I'm getting any time off in June, including saturdays. Tell Scott to make it July:crybaby:

HA! It's not Scott Brady. It's Brady Clarke.

DETAILS SOON FOLKS!

Do those details include at least one of them new fancy-assed FJ's following my lines? :D

If they are unwilling to commit to that, will they follow BMAN's lines (which are the same lines I take)?

Careful now. I've seen them. They out-do your Jeep, but not my 100.

I'd like to get one for a run up Upper Ajax. If it can run that trail w/o major incident I'll be sold. Whadya think Brian?

Probably....maybe....but apparently they are not marketing the new FJ's to anyone except current toyota owners. So I guess I won't ever see one off road to see if they hold up to their namesake. Here I thought toyota folks were more open minded than that....I'll go back to the groups who don't discriminate based on what you drive.

Who's been picking on you Brian? You're always welcome on every site I post on? Who?

Ah ha! I know what you're referring too! Someone on Expo Portal just asked me about the trip. MY GOOBER. I put that together too fast. Of course ALL vehicles are wanted. That's why I respionded to non-Toys in the first thread on the trip. I've corrected the 3 forums.

OK, was this it....or is someone actually working you Jeep owners over?

Actually, I was just being a smart-ass and giving you a hard time.;p I'll have to go look at the other thread on ExPo to see what you are talking about.

You're expert at that. ;p

You better come. I can't wait to see my 100 trash your Jeep in the rocks. :D

My schedule at work will change about the beginning of June, so I have a 50/50 chance of having that weekend off. If I don't work, I'll be there to show you what a real off road vehicle can do (assuming there are any rocks up there).

Oh, is this your way of asking to drive my Lexus LX450 up there? :D

I saw John limited his run to Toyotas, but this isn't coming from Toyota, they attended Easter heep safari, they are open to anyone driving them, regardless of what you currently drive. I am a little surprised at your apparent thin skin, being a heep guy that sometimes wheels with toys, I would have thought you would have the game down by now?

Be careful with what you wish for!:D The team drivers are very good drivers, great spotters and aggressive with their lines, paid to impress and the trucks are much more capable than I would have thought. How would you feel about your skills if you struggle over an obstacle and they blow right over it, in that silly looking, mostly stock smurf blue thing without spinning a wheel!:D They blew right over a bunch of obstacles in Moab that I would have bet the farm they would not of made. Be careful with your bashing of them until you see them in action, this is not a bloated 100 series and crow is not the best dish!:D

I don’t know if they would do Upper Ajax. But if the team was Ron and Chris that we ran Golden Spike with I would bet that they would do it and with much less problems than most would imagine.

Smiley Rock is not the best choice for this event; first off there is nothing on that trail that will challenge the FJC. They could baja that trail and ask at the end, when will the trail start?:D Second; to drive the FJC on a long trail without anywhere to turn around like that, you will have to have a driver for your truck while your driving the FJC (the team drivers will not drive your truck) and whomever is driving at that little step will be the only driver to take it over an obstacle! Crown King would be better, we could park near an obstacle and drive up it, down the bypass and the next driver do it until everyone that wanted to has driven? It would be fun, but would make for a long day getting to Crown King!

I talked to them in Moab about a Florence Junction event in the fall, using a loop of Woodpecker, Ajax or both, that way everyone could drive the obstacles. They liked the idea partly because the area is very popular with wheelers and it would get exposure from other wheelers out there in the area. I will see if that's still on the table?
