Let's go to Carolina Beach Saturday morning. I can likely only make a long day trip out of it.

Clint - what's your plan? To hit the north (CB) or south (Fort Fisher) portion?

I'd be taking the Southport - Fort Fisher ferry from Southport if we did a Saturday trip. From what I remember growing up there the south side has more driving area on the beach than the north end.

Regardless I beleive anyone would need a day tag to drive on the beach.

I've never been on the north end, only the south end at Fort Fisher. The permit form says there are 4 miles of driving area at Fort Fisher. In the past I have gotten the $10 day pass at the office by the beach entrance.

Do you have any more details of the North area? I've heard of it but not sure where it is.

Depending on whether I go down alone or with the rest of the family, I'll probably leave Raleigh around 7-8 am. I can send you a PM with my mobile number and we can get in touch to meet up.

Once you get on the main beach front road just head North, the pavement ends and the rest is sand. It has less driving area than the South end and is usually more crowded. The main attraction is that you can drive right up to the CB inlet to fish. It gets really really crowded in the summer though.

I prefer the South end unless the flounder are running in the inlet and your main objective is to fish.

My plans have changed and I'm heading to Carolina Beach early Sunday morning. If anyone is interested in meeting up, post up or pm me.

Probably 6:30 am. We are making a run to RDU at 6am and then heading out from there. I can give you a call tonight.

I went down to Carolina beach yesterday. Nice day but a little windy.

Did my good deed of the day by pulling a Pathfinder out of the sand that was buried to the frame.

it'a amazing what a Toyota will do....by the way I don't recommend pulling in reverse, can cause big issues with the High Pinion front end, not in this case but def. something to remember

I am originally from NC, my wifes school took us to Baltimore for 2 years, now we are moving back to the Raleigh area this summer. Hope yall will accept a tacoma owner into your group. My wife and I are already talking about how much fun some of the trips yall take would be. Wish we could go on the OBX trip this year, sounds awesome.
