Hello everyone, new to the forum here but an avid land cruiser fan. I own many and will post in the registry soon once I take some good pictures.

My question pertains to manual locking hubs on my '97 FJ80. I like the fact that my 60 series trucks have the manual locking hub. I like that I can keep the front axle unlocked so that there is no wear and tear on the front axle and front drive shaft.

Can a manual locking hub modification work on an 80 series truck and if it is possible, how would I go about doing it?

The reeason why I want manual locking hubs is because I don't like the front drive shaft and front axle spinning all the time even when im not using them. I really don't mind getting out of the truck and manually locking the hubs.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

i just installed locking hubs on my 1991 cruiser, and so far do not think it is worth the truble of pulling the driveshaft and installing when needed, but to your question you just need hubs to fit you longer birfs, the ones on 60s will not work on your 80 because the birf is longer, they make them for your app, also you will lose your abs and will need a diff lock if you do not have one.

just did my 95 asin hubs off 80 toyata staight axel I just moved cclip in I believe .320 thuo. I cut new grooves with a matobo 9 cut off saw instead of taking to machine shop worked perfect.
