Hey everyone, I upgraded my headlights to the 2012-2015 ones and since the new lights came with levelling motors, I decided to retrofit the manual levelling switch. My 2011 was already prewired for it, I just had to buy the headlight harness for the version with the motors, and also the switch itself.

Now onto my question. With the parking lights on, I noticed that the backlight of the levelling switch was significantly brighter than the rest of my switches. Is it supposed to be like that? The switch I got was also made in Thailand - not sure if it matters or not. Ordered from the dealer and took a little over a month to get it. Almost all the genuine parts that I get for my 80 and 200 are made in Japan, except for a few like the oil filter, hose clamps and whatnot.

I don't recall the switch brightness on my 2013 to be different than the other switches. It's possible that the 2013 switches all have a different LED in them that is brighter. It's also possible your 6-7 year old switch LEDs have dimmed a bit from the original brightness.

Wait, you have a 2013 with manual headlight levelling? I thought the 2013 and up models equipped with factory HIDs came with auto levelling?

Anyway I checked the parts catalog, the the part numbers for the RSCA and IDLE UP switches remain the same from 2007-2015.

-EDIT: just checked ebay, and saw that the 2013 US spec cars come with the manual levelling switch

In my 2013 LC all the switches in that area appear to be the same brightness to the naked eye:

Do you have your dash light dimmer adjusted to the brightest setting?

Is it possible that when wiring the new headlight level switch, the wire that supplies the power for the switch backlight is NOT wired into the same circuit as the other dash lights? If that is the case, when you adjust the dimmer switch the brightness of all other switch lights will change brightness, but the newly added headlight level switch brightness will remain at full brightness.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the photo! I just checked, I have the rheostat set to max. Also, the rheostat in mine only adjusts the brightness of the gauge cluster, and nothing else. I also didn't wire the switch myself - there were a couple of factory-installed plugs behind the switch panel taped together, and one of them was for the headlight levelling switch
