Just a heads up fellow cruiser junkies.

My wife and I just got back from hiking in Manning Park.

Having an 8 month old we decided to stay at the Manning Park Resort. Big mistake.

It's barely a step above camping. I've stayed in better cheap motels. ALL the facilities were closed. No pool, no hot tub, no sauna. Not even cable on the TV. The coffee shop is closed down until further notice. The store is practically empty. There are literally empty shelves.

The continental breakfast they provided is laughable and the restaurant doesn't open till 11am. We hadn't brought any food or anything to cook with because we were staying at a "RESORT".

So we pretty much just left and drove to Hope to get a cup of coffee and some breakfast.

Be forewarned.

The Home restaurant in Hope is worth the drive.

That's a shame. I love Manning Park for camping and hiking though! Never stayed at the resort.

The "resort" has always been a bit of a tourist trap. There are a couple good restaurants in Hope. At one time East Gate had a great lodge style restaurant with very good food but it burnt down. West Gate use to have the best pie and the best fries and gravy (real homemade stuff) in BC. Then it burnt down. Best food "close" by would be the pub in Princeton off of Vermilion Ave. The best coffee is the Cowboy brand coffee served in the bistro beside the pub. Good Thai restaurant in Keremeos. People drive an hour or more to eat there. What some consider her to be a long drive others consider a leisurely drive.

Thanks for the tips but I am fully aware that I can find good places for food and coffee in both Hope and Princeton.

"THE POINT" was that Manning Park Resort sucks! Don't stay there.
