I have removed both manifolds to solve the typical leak issue.

In doing so I have notice the two bolts that hold half the intake and half the exhaust.

The bolt that was pulled off is a normal nutt and washer.

Is there a special nut or washer that should be used to re-attach the manifolds so that the torque put on the bolt is distributed to both manifolds evenly?

Thanks

To answer your question, the answer is yes. You should use stock studs and nuts if possible, but as long as you get the same strength hardware with the exact thread pitches etc. you should be fine. I bought two new ones from Spector when I did mine and I think they were about a buck a stud and maybe a half a buck per nut. I was already ordering a bunch of stuff anyway so I had them throw it in. I'd also check with C-Dan or your local dealer. At least you know you'll have a good quality part.

Good luck.

I checked with Toyota today and they seem to think they are just normal bolts. It just seems odd to me, because the thicknesses for the manifolds were different so how would a normal nut and washer keep them both stug.

The leak was coming from the area around one of the two studs, so I was wondering if that may be one of the causes. When I pulled the gasket it seems like the PO had done the job recently judging by the wear on the gasket. However, I don't think they had it machined. I have just received mine back from the machine shop. I don't think I will have the same problem.

New studs, washers, & nuts will torque up correctly. Small burrs, carbon, rust, & general crap on your old ones will mean you'll have unpredictably less pressure on the manifolds at the specified torque.
