Making a tailgate?

I was talking to a couple of friends today about the 45 tailgate. One of them suggested a old hilux tailgate with the stamped center, cut the skin off with the raised toyota letters and make a nice repop frame.Its even got hooks on it!

What year tailgate is that?
In all reality you can make a FJ45 from scratch. Pretty basic, and you could use the skin from that gate on the one you build.

Did you check out the ones being made by Awl_Teq here on the board?

yes I emailed him about a tailgate, it will be a while before he makes them. As far as I can figure that he is shifting all of the manufacturing of the 45 bed parts over to the company he works for. I'm not positive that is the case.

The 55's had "toyota" embossed in the tailgate in a few years, it is smaller but definitely fits the era.

Yeah, I'm working on the tailgate assembly. I've got the Solidworks model nearly done. I've made all of these parts before but I want to add some details that will allow me to assemble them easier. Still need to make the tools for the embossed letters and add the oval sticker emboss.
