Any tire sticks in Moab and rubicon is really about clearance.

So ill quit lurking, and add my interest here. It will all depend on how the spring goes for the business to allow me get away in prime time.

Id love to do both; but I know id want the knobbies in CA and AT's in MOAB, especially if driving back.
Jerry, what are your thoughts on doing the Rubicon on AT's? I assume not what youd want but just seeing what your real world experiences would lend you to suggest.

I'd agree with Barry here. He saw first hand how all the various tires worked at Rubicon where I was in my truck and only experienced how mine worked.

I'm tentatively planning on driving out with a set (if I'm driving) and putting on the SS'ers for the dirt. The trailer will be full...

Either one by itself is amazing, doing both in one trip could only be made better by adding some dune running in Pismo or Oregon.

If you go up to Oregon you have a place to stay if you need (easier in the dunes though) of if you need any maintenance my dad lives about 10 minutes from some of the main trail heads and a huge shop. You can see the dunes from his place and I'm sure my brother would love to head out there with his wheeler. The dunes stretch almost 70 miles up the beach completly unimpeded and unlike all the closures out here you won't see a ranger or have anyone bother you the entire way. All you need is a cheap permit and a flag.

Tons of places like this to camp by if you don't want powe and water hook ups

If you want monster dunes, hit up Glamis in SoCal biggest dunes i've ever seen or ridden on.

I'm sure the Jefferson State cruisers could recommend something for the southern/central part on your way up as well if you took the I-5. If you get off the dune near my place it is nothing but mud....you that is only if Uh8mud:p. 12" lift and 44" tires seems to be the fun standard for wheeling back home.

Bumping this to motivate any last minute discussion.

If I were to leave to do Rubithon, I'd be leaving June 12th to drive out, arriving in Sac CA on June 16th, picking up wife at airport there, driving up to the trail head June 17th to the start in the morning. Once done on June 20th, drive the 2 days to Moab, spend 3-5 days there, drive home.

I poked Greg last night about it, saying the idea was dead to see his reaction. Now for everyone else to see where they stand...

Would love to go, but don't know that it will actually be possible now. Given that I am taking a week off next week to move, I don't know that I can get another week, just a month later, or that my wife would let me do this so quickly. Dang....just bought my fridge too! Tell you what Jerry, I may not be able to make Rubicon this year, but the chances of meeting up with you in Moab afterwards are very high. That's like a 6 or 7 hour drive from Denver, and I could pull that over an extended weekend.....and even take the princess.

The wife and I are beating the details but bedtime calls before the decision...
