I just had my 2004 LC in for it's 30k mile service about a month ago. The services was performed by the Toyota dealership. A couple of days ago, the orange "maint req'd" light came on (I don't remember if it was on before I took the truck in for service). Is there any way for me to tell why the maint light is on? I want to know if the computer is noticing some type of problem vs. the dealer just forgot to reset the light.
Your owners manual should confirm this but I think your dealer just forgot to reset the light. It should go off every 5K miles after it is reset. Your manual will explain this and how you can reset it yourself.
My NAV has an option in it for maintenance items and that's where you set the mileage for oil changes and a lot of other things. If you have that- I would poke around in there and see what some of the settings are. On my 2006 I reset the light by the following:
Make sure Odometer in not on A or B
Key off
Push and hold odometer reset
Key on
Light blinks and then goes out.

Exactly the same on my '03. The maintenance light comes on at 5K miles (blinks for about 10 sec when you start up, then goes out) and stays on all the time around 7-7.5K mi. Basically, it just says that at 5K mi, you should think about having the oil changed. At 7.5K mi, you should change the oil ASAP.
