I'm starting my third year with the Magic Shine. It's a 900 lumen LED light. Mounts on bars or on the helmet. I love it. Under 100$, and better than every light system I ever used in the past 15 years, including some that cost 6-7 times as much.

Anyone else love the Magic Shine? (Racist and p&r answers may be withheld, lol)

Hmm very interesting. I just replaced my light & motion ARC HID with the L & M Seca 700 LED.

I got a good deal at $350 but that light you have is amazingly cheap!

I have had my ARC for 7 years and it works great but the battery is getting tired and it only lasts 90 min on low - the reason I just got a new one.

900 lumen LED with Li Ion battery for $90?!? Insane!

I'm tempted to get one as a second light and compare.

That is amazing, and this has been around for three years? I may need one.

I just finished up a nighttime MTB ride using mine.

You will not be disappointed, but you will hate yourselves for paying so much in the past for crappier lights. . That's how I felt anyway (I have L&M halogens and HIDs, Dinotti 200L-Li)

When I bought my Magic Shine it was 70$ and came with helmet mount.

Thanks for ruining my day. Looks like a copy of my Lupine Tesla, but for $400 less. I'm sure it isn't as good, but for 20% the price, it is close enough.

Don't be so sure. Francois, the founder of mtbr.com is a buddy. He's got every light made. I've been to a few beer-drinking, light testing sessions at his place. The Magic Shine is so close to the Lupine it's sad. It's a cheap Chinese-made copy, but it is honestly just as good. Lupine doesn't make the emitters. Anyone can buy one.

I've got one HID that I've had for years and the Magic Shine for a helmet light. They rock. They also make a flashlight version that is very impressive for its size and comes with a bar mount.

x2 on what FE said.

The helmet mount for the Lupine is the Magic Shine mount. I would not be the least bit surprised to learn they come out of the same factory. For a "cheap" copy, it's quite high quality.

i got the minewt 400 which can be had for 150, not as cheap at the magic shine but i like the dual headlights. the magicshine cost to effectiveness atm seems like ti cant be beat. my helment is a jetlight which i love even though 3 times as much, 1000hid

I have heard they are amazing. Bike lights have come such a long ways. It used to be that you had to spend $400 to get a good one, now for under $200 you can have a sweet setup. I made my own light out of AA batteries and I still ended up spending more than the magic shine setup, I will definitely try one out soon to replace my outdated heavy and aging Niterider HID.

I just had an awesome ride with my magicshine / mte flashlight combo last night. A 900 lumen flood on the bars (MS) and a 900 lumen spot on the head (MTE) is an awesome way to ride. We did shuttled DH runs down the Glade on MT Hood (Timberline Lodge to Government Camp) and had enough light to be able to run full speed.

...and as a teaser for the mtb light geeks out there, there's a new light company coming out w/ 1500 lumen lights at a similar price point. I'll share more when they go live and I'm allowed to speak freely about them.

Awesome news. 1500 lumens.

I crashed this morning. A little nothing wreck, except for the beach-ball sized boulder I landed on. It shoved my right arm into my ribs and lower right abdomen and all three hurt like a mutherphukr right now.

GeoManGear has temporarily discontinued sales of Magicshine lightsets due to our concerns regarding the quality of Magicshine's lithium-ion battery packs. We are working with the manufacturer to quickly resolve these issues and will begin selling Magicshine products again after we have obtained a high-quality battery pack for our customers. If you wish to be notified when we have new Magicshine or comparable lightsets available, please click here to place your name on our waiting list.

Whoa. I haven't heard of any issues. Let me send a message to my people and see if I can find any dirt...

Edit:

2 things: The magic shine dude Geoman, Jay, died earlier this year of colon cancer. RIP.
Some people had issues and got replacements. The general thought is that the guys who run Geoman got tired of dealing with the returns.

For the money, nothing comes close to a magicshine. I've run mine for about 14 months with no problems. The size and weight are great too.
