Hey guys,

I've spoken with Dave of Roving Recovery in Armstrong who can supply MadMan gauges. I inquired earlier today about a possible group buy. If it's a cash deal and we get at least "several" units he can do 10-15% off. The EMS1 and 2 offer a pile of features and help combine multiple gauges into one which is why I've been pondering them. He does have Landcruiser specific kits however pricing is more negotiable on the generic kits which are apparently quite similar. I thought I'd throw it out there for those contemplating some gauges for their rigs as I am right now...and it'd be nice to save a little cash with the discount.

Did you happen to ask him what the difference is between the Toy version and the generic?
I bought a Toy-specific version, it has a nice adaptor to install the water temp sensor designed for the 1HZ/1HD-T. Not so useful when you have a BJ74 :D
Just curious what the other differences might be...

I haven't installed mine yet but it's definitely a cool piece of kit. I already had a boost gauge so opted for the oil pressure version.
If you're planning on buying a boost gauge and a pyro anyway it starts looking like a really good deal.

I am not certain what the difference was between the kits but I could confirm. I am one of those guys wanting boost and egt gauges and a oil pressure and water temp gauge would be nice too. Dave said something about how it's possible to get both oil and boost pressure with a switch. I'd probably go dedicated boost or oil pressure gauge and then run everything else through the madman. It's not much more than two quality gauges and I see these vehicles with four gauges in them...madman would be cheaper, cleaner and likely more accurate. We'll have to see if there is interest I suppose...

Hi Guys,

Just a little info about the Toyota kit vs. Basic kit.

The toyota kit has 3 items different from the basic kit, a cast water temp adapter, an inline hose adapter for coolant level, and an extension hose/adapter for the oil pressure switch kit.

Cast Toyota 1HZ Coolant Adapter

Inline coolant level adapter:

Extension Oil Hose

The coolant level adapter is likely useful for any motor, but the cast adapter only works on the 1HZ/1HD-T. So if you don't have that particular motor, you're much cheaper to get the basic kit, and add the coolant level adapter for $12. The extension oil hose is only required with oil pressure kits, and I also have these in stock separately if required for your setup.

The Toyota kit was developed by Madman aimed at popular Toyotas in the african market, which appears to differ from our over here a bit. I'm trying to put together a "local" kit, basically sourcing most of the senders from north American suppliers, and I think this may reduce the prices by about $50 per unit.

cheers, Dave

Has anyone bought one of these recently? Having a bit of trouble finding a supplier.

Yeah, Dave's not selling anymore I don't think. May have to order direct from South Africa (I believe). They sure work well though.
