I have a chance to purchase a brand new MAC 110 mig welder with a little cart. It is brand new and has only been used once. It has everything except a bottle of gas, $450. Good deal? Bad brand stay away?

Check over in outfitting.

Hobart has a decent small welder - I think it used to be teh 135 which was replaced by the 140. Don't know who makes the MAC, but the lil Hobarts and Millers are great lil ones. If you're going to do anything like sliders bumpers etc, get a 220 like at least the HH175 (maybe now it's teh HH180) or the MM175 etc.

You are probably right about the 220 junk. I was just over at the race shop asking if they were updating their welders and one of the fab dudes had his personal one there that he was trying to unload. They have about 25 lincoln welders over there and he told me they are waiting for the Lincoln rep to come by and update the equipment. Could be a chance at a really nice welder.

I paid $418 for a hobart 140 new in box using a coupon at Norther Tool.
