I'm getting closer and closer to pulling the trigger on a FJ60/62. I'm looking at one currently that has a swapped motor. This is a play toy, for weekend beach/trail meet-ups. I was planning on registering it using historical plates. In doing so, what can I expect for inspection for a swapped motor? Does anyone in MA have a similar story, and what was the outcome?

It'll all depend on the station you're going to.

If it passes safety, you're good to go.

My guy me told me motor swap not the concern it’s the exhaust and how loud it is ... I have had a sbc 350 now going ls 6.0 and asked him and that’s what he said ....

In past years nobody has bothered me with my vortec, mainly because the truck is over 20 years old and exempt from the more annoying regulations in mass (re:Obd2)

My guys know the truck is swapped, and technically since it came with a pre-obd engine they don’t need to run the scan with the swapped rig. I would definitely say an obscenely loud exhaust would cause more harm than good though
