I just picked up a nice M416 that was "restored" by the previous owner, a military vehicle collector.
He had replaced both data/VIN plates with new reproduction items, but never restamped them.:bang:
Is there a VIN stamped anywhere on the frame, or was it just on the plates?
I need to have the VIN physically inspected before being able to transfer it into my name.

No VIN. Typically just a manufacturer production number on the info plate and then local military ID numbers painted on them. My state assigns a VIN and rivets it to the side of the yoke. Your state DMV may do the same thing.

In KA they'll assign a VIN if the trailer doesn't already have one. First trailer I didn't know this.
Second trailer it had a VIN stamped in it by the time it got to them. ;) Had to correct the VIN-verifier guy 3 times before he got a 10 digit VIN correct. :bang:

Dealing with a similar issue on a m100 I won on eBay. Sure wish the PO would have titles the trailer or disclosed no title existed. For what I ended up paying, the PO should've worked out the title issue.

Did you receive any paper work title/registration? That is where any VIN should be. If not how do you register it to be on the road. My M416 uses the number on the back plate. I bought it with a title in NM and transferred it AZ. It is listed as home made. My MBT has a state issue VIN plate that is attached to the frame in the front.:meh:

Thanks a million guys, I should be able to sort this out with the supplied info.
Luckily, I do have a registration card from PO...
