Hello,

Does anyone have the M12000 Service Manual? I found the MIL M12000 service manual on this forum and the parts manual for the regular M12000. It doesn't look like Warn publishes these directly.

Thanks

That’s a great video. I’m glad the m12000 doesn’t have the ball bearing ring gear. I assume that was specific to the industrial series and theoretically wears better?

The worst of my rust is on the drum, the drive coupler, and the shaft.

I imagine I'll just sand the rust on the outside of the drum and paint it. But not soak it in rust remover, like I am doing for the drive coupler.

From the outside, the brake on my M12000 looks like the mx12085. So I guess that's the brake that won't get messed up if removed? I just looked at the price of a new one and had to pause because it's fairly expensive if I screw this up.

that's the newer brake. not like the vid

there's really nothing to mess up.
the brake has preload when it goes into the drum.
just pay attention as it comes out and you can reset it. it doesnt need to get replaced if you drop it or something.

Anyone have any thoughts on the damage to the drum? I can't tell if this is a surface that has to spin against something else.

what are we looking at?
that's a weld holding the cog into the drum.
the drum rides in the bushings that go in the foot ends.

I might have been sniffing the brake cleaner for a bit too long yesterday. I could have sworn the weld in the center of the photo, on the left edge of the cog, was showing a dent... but I see it now. thanks.
