FJ pulls it fine. An FJ60-80-100 wouldn't have a bit of an issue with it. All of this stuff about the M101 being too big for an FJ or Jeep sized vehicle is BS. Track is exactly the same.. by my design.. even milspec was pretty much the same. Weight is no issue, it's about 1000lbs with no sides or top. I have had 2000lbs in it (big stack of FJ/Tacoma bumpers), the FJ is rated to 5000 but much over 3000 total weight and I'd want brakes. But for most hauling/camping you won't pack enough gear to have much more than 500lbs in it.

Personally, I don't know how you guys haul enough stuff to feed the doggy in an 416. :)

It goes wherever the FJ goes and with the LockNRoll hitch it is drama free.

I've never had an issue with my surge brakes locking up without load. In theory they shouldn't, because the amount of braking power is entirely dependent on how hard the trailer pushes into the pintle. Either my surge brakes don't work, or yours are working too well!

The surge brakes do indeed add some weight, but I like the simple mechanical arrangement. They have never locked or caused any sway problems. The 40 does labor a lot when the thing is loaded with 2-1/2 yds of wet compost(puts the trailer down on the bumpers), but tracks beautiful.(part of the laboring is due to the bad compression I currently have in #2&3 cylinders)--that should be fixed in a month or so.
