My Gov Liquidators paperwork finally cleared so after an 1150 mile, 48 hr, round trip to scenic Herlong, CA, I now have a 1992 M101A2 trailer. It will be another month, if you believe the GL website, before I get the SF97 required to register it in CA, but I digress.
In preparation for ordering a new axle I came up with the following. It is fitted with 16 x 6.5" wheels with 8 on 6.5" bolt circle; wheel back space is 4.5". Tires are 235/85, and they clear the leaf springs by about 3.5". I'm going to use 16x7 steel wheels (Sequoia or Tundra) with the same back space and run the 285/75 Revos now on my truck, which in turn will get new and more aggressive 33s".
Spring seat to spring seat = 43 1/8", and hub face to hub face = 63". I plan to order a 60" hub to hub Dexter axle (5200 lb ?) to move the wider tires in a bit and keep them under the fenders. I'm going for electric brakes with a parking brake actuator arm, and will have new spiral flex cables made.
I'm posting this so that anyone else who might decide to try one of these big-ass trailers will have a point of reference. Big Mac
