I'm rebuilding the M10000 warn winch on my 78 fj40 and I had heard you can use Ford solenoids versus the warn solenoids (cheaper). If anyone has any info what Ford solenoids will work let me know.

Welcome.

Those “ford” solenoids are not a continuous-duty solenoid. Using the incorrect solenoid in this application can lead to a lot of damage, serious injury or death.

I have been witness to "ford" winch solenoids sticking in the “on” position and the winch continuing to pull until power was disconnected. Very destructive and exciting to say the least, but hey, what is a couple hundred bucks on the proper equipment?

:meh:

X2 on what Poser said. Go with Warn or other brand solenoids made for use in winches. A stuck solenoid makes for a very bad day.
