I am guessing most of you are aware of the recall campaign in progress for the 22-23 LX600.

I can’t seem to get the Lexus recall site to work, but I have confirmed my recall through the nhtsa site. (Notices are supposed to be mailed out in July)

It’s my wife’s DD, we bought new and it currently has 30k miles on it. She has told me about it idling rough at times, however I figured it was just bad gas.

Any others suffering from a rough idle at times? I am curious what Lexus will do to resolve this…

Mine is confirmed, via the dealer, that it’s in the recall. I did an oil change yesterday and sent the oil off to blackstone for testing. I have a rough idle. It’s very noticeable at stop lights.

I had just done the oil change last week, I should have thought to have taken a sample.

I wonder how they will address it…it seems like they would have to resolve the issue and provide some type of extended warranty on the engine.

I would think if are already having the rough idling, that some damage has been done…

Probably something with the engine design or manufacturing tolerances, causing all these engines to blow up. It's good they finally acknowledge the problem but I don't see a real root cause for it. Tearing apart the car to swap out parts, not even put in a new whole engine, is kind of worrying in the long run for reliability.

Its machining debris on some 22 and 23 models.

My Wife”s LX had an event during high speed driving that threw codes and caused the car to default to limp-home mode. Dealer and Lexus blamed bad-gas or my wife pumping the wrong grade. Was planning on selling and buying her a 200…

Found on Slee’s Facebook/Instagram page. Best looking one I’ve seen so far imo. Makes me so sad Toyota didn’t give us their version in the US

Good luck selling with a recall with no remedy hanging over your head. I was tempted as well…..

From reading the Toyota report submitted to the NHTSA, Toyota has no idea how many vehicles are actually affected (over 800 failures as of May). They also stated the began retesting the bearings in late 23, months after the debris issue was supposedly fixed. The fact that U.S. and Japan built trucks have the issue makes me think common sourced bearings, the bearing cap or another part could be to blame, in addition to the debris issue.

There is a spreadsheet on tundras.com that shows a number of late 23s and 24s (not recalled) have the engine failure. The report also said the Hybrids have not been recalled because they can still have hybrid/battery get to safety in a failure. I expect this recall to get expanded a lot. What a s***show.

Mine is 4/24 production and hope it doesn’t.

I guess I will change the oil myself around 2000-2500 miles and open the filter up. Was planning on Slee skids but may have to put that off a moment.

Motor idles fine and have plenty of 80+ mph long multiple hour highway drives including in the mountains.

Edit: on the plus side its been a decent daily and it even tows well.

Curious to know how do they solve for such a problem in a recall.. do the open up the engine and inspect or the do an engine flush and call it a day.. I mean these could be small particles that can get stuck and land anywhere.. any clue?

It’s happening to 2024 tundras, despite them saying it’s only some 22-23s.

There’s another thread in the GX550 forum also talking about this same issue

Instead of just saying it can yall post the links to the discussions?

I am not worried about it yet with a 4/24 production date on my 600.

Have you spent anytime on the Tundras forums or Facebook groups?

Maybe a 4/24 is safe. Some 24 tundras with build dates in 23 have popped.

I did at one point but bought an lx600 instead
How has the 600 been otherwise? I was seriously looking hard but gave up on mark ups and found a 570.

I still secretly want a 600.

Will give my perspective.

I traded our ‘21 200 for a ‘24 600. Time will tell if I regret that. The 200 was my daily. The 600 is my wife’s.

Pros:
Better looking, better tech (including safety), better seats, great torque, much better mileage. Better cargo room than the 200 due to 3rd row folding down. Feels like a car that I can keep for 8-10 years without missing any new tech; my 200 felt 10 years old the day I bought it.

Neutral: feels smaller than my 200, but that means easier for my wife to drive.

Cons:
That 5.7 V8 was proven and its flaws were known.
It doesn’t feel as buttery/refined as the V8.
Did the first oil change this weekend and a few annoyances: the skid plate is a dang puzzle…and plastic/fiberglass, screw on oil filter seems tiny and hard to reach, the dipstick is a mile long and is at the rear of the engine bay making it a pain to snake it in and out.

Overall, I love it and think it is a great comfortable, and hopefully reliable, car for our family. We were planning on two GXs but landed on an LX and GX.

Edited: I got $7k off of MSRP. Otherwise we would have stuck with the 2 GX plan.

2300 miles on it and I like it. I have been daily driving Super Duties for a few years so its a different experience. My Fsport has a mild shake when accelerating on less then perfect pavement but I am sure there is a programming fix or I will change wheels and shocks (note taking it out of the second fixed eco mode setting helped a good bit).

It feels more like my 2015 3.5 crew cab fx4 F150 than my 2008 Tundra. So it’s probably a little more numb than your 570. I loved that Tundra and if its anything like your 570 I would probably just keep it.

One thing no one mentions is towing. I towed around 3500lbs with it once and it tows REALLY well. I will like to see how it does towing our small tractor to the farm and I can gooseneck my skidsteer with my F250 king ranch; perfect combo.

I got $3,000 off msrp. It was precisely to a T what I would order if given the opportunity, EXACTLY.

Sounds like a great truck. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Appreciate the perspective.
