Just got this in today!

are you expecting performance improvement that you can measureably feel or just looking for better sound?

I'm expecting some performance gain but its not a vehicle that I drive around aggressively or I expect a lot from in terms of acceleration. I know that some may argue that a cold air intake will do nothing for performance and I usually agree. However their (AFE's) before and after dyno proves otherwise. I called AFE directly and I asked if they tuned the vehicle to get the gains but they stated that there was zero tuning done. Just replace the OEM with theirs. Since they showed me the data(regardless of what dyno they used), they still displayed a notable delta between dyno runs and based on that information, I felt it was it would be worth the purchase. In addition, the intake makes the 5.7 motor sound sexxxxyyyy and as the name implies, this rig is all about that!

That all makes total sense and you're right about AFE having some real credibility. Keep us posted...thanks.

You do know that your stock air intake system is already a low restriction Cold Air Intake, right?

Just sayin'

Will do. I have an exhaust thread I started here as well. No proof that exhaust will yield gains like this intake but I don't care since objectives are sound and weight savings here; weight savings will be marginal but I will accept it as a by product to my main objective of better sound/additional sexiness.

saw that thread also and that's a nice looking combo for $750 installed. Can't beat it for the money and I look forward to hearing it. Usually the combo of custom exhaust AND hi flow air filter yield noticeable results.

Did you get the Dynamic Air Scoop too? Should give you extra noises haha. Also I believe the DRY S filter versus the 5R should be easier to clean and maintain without oiling. Be careful if you're doing any water crossings any time soon, I believe the AFE design would draw in water more so than stock.

Regardless, power gains should be marginal, if any at all. With an NA engine, exhaust scavenging/backpressure is virtually pointless for power gains from an exhaust, and similarly so with modern NA engines responding to cold air intakes. Perhaps with a tune or other supporting mods you could see some noticeable power gains. I would be more keen to see a third-party unbiased dyno sheet of the before and after of a CAI on the LC200.

But you'll still enjoy the noises and feeling it brings (placebo..?), so that's all that matters. More smiles per gallon. Let us know how it is after install, maybe some sound clips.

I didn't opt for the hood scoop because they had no Dyno results proving the hood scoop works. Per their tech department, the dyno results we're from the standard intake without the air scoop and no tune. AFE is a pretty reputable company I have not seen any other Dyno results proving them wrong. I looked for other dyno results for the the Toyota 5.7 including tundra which is our same motor but found nothing. I really doubt AFE would put false Dyno results up considering the damage it could cause to their reputation. I agree that most intake dont help and in fact can hinder but until someone proves them otherwise I would consider there results valid.

Regarding the exhaust, power gain is irrelevant to me since I just want it to sound better. I wouldn't mind putting it on the dyno to test before and after if it wasn't so expensive. But even then people would argue that I didn't gain much power and say it's because the dyno I used or the air temperature or the time of day or because it was a special federal holiday, Etc. I will definitely post updates to each respective forum when the time comes.

I agree. I don't want it too loud. I want to hear a little bit while I'm driving and nice throaty acceleration when I hit the gas pedal hard. I think the combination of the two will sound really nice. We will have to wait and see.

Update! So I got up early this morning and put in the AFE Cold Air Intake! It took me less than an hour start to finish. Their directions are pretty good. Sounds great and looks good! With all the Lexus engine covers you could hardly see it though.

Any reason why you went with the oiled version? You should check and clean your maf sensor more often now. Where did you ordered from?

As far as power goes, you'll most likely gain very little if any at all. So I'd do this for sound exclusively. Depending on your exhaust set up and what it replaces from the factory one, you might gain power from it.

No specific reason. I ordered it online at summit racing. I thought about that but I'm the type of guy that would do that. Its actually very satisfying to work on it. I changed my AHC fluid a couple of weeks ago.

Ok just downgrade the quality and will try to upload soon. I recorded 4 clips. 1 50% throttle windows up and down. Also Full throttle windows up and down.
