Last week was a big one... I sold my daily driver FJ62 and bought a 2000 LX 470. Truck is clean, passed the PPI, a decent price, rust free, 150k miles on it. Even the AHC works (though I'll be installing OME in November and pulling it). Needless to say, I'm stoked.
Anyhow, it wasn't until I took the old plates off that I noticed the previous owner's metal Go USA license plate frame scratched the paint right under the license (see photo). It's a bit bigger than the usual rock chip (1" x 1") and goes down to bare metal. There was no way I would have noticed this without pulling the plates during inspection...
So, ski / snow season is just around the corner... what would you guys recommend for fixing this? It'll 90% be covered up by my new license plate and the plastic frame I'm installing. I don't care about it looking perfect... just don't want it to be a rust magnet. Color is "Cashmere Beige Metallic" aka gold. Touch up paint pen and touch up clear coat? Just spray some grey plasti-dip on top? Any advice?
