LX470 for Baja Rack??

For what it's worth I just installed a roof rack on my 2006 LX470 and there are 8 available mounting points for roof rack feet, 4 on each side. My LX also has the available mounting points 2 inches apart just like in the photo above, you just have to remove the flashing. I will take a picture when I get off work if it would be helpful.

Only the 98 and beginning of the 99 run of lx470's have the same rack as the lc's. It looks like at some time in 99 they went to the shorter 4 point rack. The front mounting point on the lx IS NOT the middle mounting point for the lc. I have a 98 lx and thus the same rack as the lc. Mine actually did not come with a factory rack but I got one off of a lc at a junk yard. My friends have a 99 and an 01 and they both have the shorter 4 mount rack. They were jelly! My rack goes all the way up past the start of the sun roof. Mine is a solid 9 or 10 inches longer than the regular lx rack.

Not really sure I understand the concerns here. AFAIK the 100 series/LX bodies are identical other than the front end. And I was always under the assumption that the front mounts were just hidden under the trim on LXs with the half-rack.

You are absolutely right and I suspected the same. I looked under the "flashing" and there are additional mounting points for the long rack. Looks like I'm good to get the BajaRack and get rid of the somewhat useless Yakima basket rack I currently have.
