Yes .. Ive read through the FAQ and used search for further research.

My wifes 05 LX470 is due for the 60k mile service ( as well as rear pads and rotors )

Lexus Dealer 60k mile service $$$1825 and includes a bunch of blah-blah and roughly the following
-trans flush (which Ive heard not to do)
-diff flush
-replace brake fuild
-repack wheel bearings
-alot of filters
-oil change
-tire rotation
-torquing and twerking a few things + lube
-car wash
-loaner car
-AND GET THIS replace AHC fluid !!! (they declined to do this 3 months ago)

Sounds expensive

Called Toyota - (told them I had a 2006 Land Cruiser bc it had the AHC)
they quoted $470 for the 60k mile services and includes
-repack wheel bearing
-tire rotation
-oil change
-air filter
-inspect fluids

Rear pads and rotors Lexus $690, Toyota $550 (is everything interchangeable?)

This is a highway princess never used offroad or to tow

What to do .. Thoughts???

Thanks in advance for anyhelp

Really, if you are even a little bit mechanically inclined, most of these items are pretty diy grade tasks. The general consensus is don't flush the trans. Rather get a fluid exchange done at a shop or a lot of guys, myself included, do frequent drain and fills every couple oil changes. You get about 4.5 qts at a time with this method. The diff is just a drain and fill as well. I would suggest taking it to the dealer for brake system flush, should be around $160. I have always ordered Toyota parts for my lx and avoided the dealer at all costs. Order parts from one of the reputable parts reps on Mud and get your hands dirty! That is, unless you can afford not to. Luckily you are a member of the best automotive tech forum on the web and there are write ups for all of these things:)

Get a quote for doing the brakes from Toyota at the same time they do the repack should save money., they can also rotate tires for free at this time since they will have them all off the vehicle. Get a quote for frt. and rear diff fluid change and transfer case. Get the oil/filter changed Mobil 1 5w30. Get the drivetrain lubed and retorqued should be part of the oil/filter change. When you there buy the new air filter you can put that in. Never mention the word 60k service $$$. Just get quotes for real work !! Then the next time you go in for the next 5k mile oil/filter change get the cooling system serviced. Make sure they know your not paying for look see crap and that you know when they are doing the repack you know it's less time and work for them to do the brake job. They should work with you.

In addition to your searches on MUD, check your owner's manual for what's needed at 60,000K. If you have the dealer do the work from that, and R&R the rear brake pads, you should be in it for a lot less. And I would suggest using the best service department, which may or may not be the cheapest. Cheap work poorly done is not a good deal. However, the best service may also be the cheapest; read some service dept. reviews and/or go from your experience.

THIS BELOW JUST SEEMS LIKE EXTRA $$$

Measure brake pad thickness and rotor runout

Inspect fuel lines and connections, fuel tank band and fuel tank vapor vent system hoses.
Inspect fuel tank cap gasket

So It looks like the dealer is changing all the fluids instead of INSPECTING them as recommended

I also looked at old receipts for my Lexus RX and at my last visit they charged my $40 for a tire rotation when they did all 4 brake pads and rotors .. clearly the tires were off but they still charged $40 to move each one 3 feet front to back :pig:
