LX key blade removal

I have searched without success and would like to know how I should remove the blade from my plastic fob to replace with aftermarket shell? Unlike the LC key, the LX is built into one half of the shell?
Just a hammer?

Stick the blade in a padded vise and carefully twist the plastic until it comes free.

I just upgraded my wife's LX's cracked OEM key fob with a titanium reinforced YotaMD fob from @suprarx7nut. The fob twisted off easily enough but left a tight plastic remnant surrounding the base of the key blade that I wasn't able to get off by hand.

Being that I didn't have a vise handy, I just locked onto the blade base with vise-grip pliers as close to the remaining plastic as possible and used a pair of cutting pliers to grab and twist off the plastic that was left holding on to the blade. Looking forward to not having this problem again anytime soon with the super stout upgraded YotaMD fob!

Check the screws once in a while on the YotaMD fob, I've had mine for about a year and I noticed one screw missing. I almost PM'd @suprarx7nut for an extra black screw but luckily I found it on the driver side floor mat (I almost vacuumed it, haha). I ordered a 1.3mm hex screwdriver to add to my collection and i'm gonna put the 1.3mm hex key that came with the YotaMD fob in the 100.

Yes sir...good call. I have had another one on my LX key for about twice that long and expected that it would loosen up over time...so far so good.

I checked it again when I put together the wife's replacement fob and it didn't need tightening. I keep the allen wrench and spare silver screws in my glove box in case I ever need to tighten it or replace missing screws.

Prior to getting the YotaMD fob I had to replace the "OEM style" fob on average of every year and a half or so. With the cost and hassle of doing this so often, it's definitely a worthy upgrade if you are planning to keep the truck for a long time.

It's probably worth picking up some blue Loctite. I'm a big fan of the glue stick variety.
