Anyone know how to remove the plastic plate on the tailgate where the license plate is attached? I suspect you get to it from inside the tailgate by removing the carpet and such.

The carpet is glued to hardboard, that fastens to the tailgate with around a dozen plastic push-in rivets...you'll need a panel pulling tool. Once the carpet is removed, you'll see panels on on each end held on by 3 phillips screws. Removing the panel will give you access (sort of) to the fasteners. Not much clearance and some sharp edges once you're inside the tailgate...long sleeve shirt, thin gloves, patience, etc.
