Where do all you LX guys and gals source your parts and/or do your parts numbers researching? Is there a general rule of thumb out there or on here, (didn't find anything in the FAQ, or lots of keyword searches), that most/all parts are interchangeable with the TLC? I'm sorry for such a noob question, I feel like this would be asked a million times around here.

For my 3rd gen, I've always browsed parts diagrams on Camelback and ordered accordingly. Are LX owners doing the same with Lexus parts diagrams, and then cross referencing somewhere like car-part.com? Or do you just order from a toyota parts diagram?

Basically, how do I know when I can use TLC parts/numbers and how do I know when it's a LX specific part?

If this has been covered numerous times, and I can't find the answer here, can someone kindly point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

I try to use the online Lexus dealer parts diagrams and normally buy from my local Lexus dealer.

Toyodiy.com has a parts cross reference tool that might be useful. I haven't used it or the parts diagrams to lookup parts.

Find an online Lexus dealer that has an easy to navigate site and one where you can register your VIN with, I used to use Sewell but they don't do online parts anymore. Lexus of south Atlanta has a decent site. The very very vast majority of Lexus parts are interchangeable and common with LCs and will often share part numbers, but not always eg LX AHC suspension coils and LC AHC coils are interchangeable but have different numbers - the LC coils are less expensive. I think you'll find it's the exception rather than the rule where parts aren't same same. In the first instance hit up one of our supporting vendors and I'm sure they'll help where they can. I've worked out that I can get parts at a pretty reasonable discount at my nearest Toyota dealer by exclaiming "Geezus, you want how much for that? I can get it cheaper at xxx Lexus" and they take a good % off for me to leave.

I generally use toyodiy.com to identify the parts I need and I'll often cross reference b/w lx and toyota models to see what's different etc.
There are some great mud vendors to work with:
- Sam Stewart from Toyota South Atlanta and his Parts Manager Kyle ("Kyle Toyota OEM") (see here https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/to...-east-coast-oem-discount-parts-source.799801/)
- CruiserDan
- Beno in the past, but looks like not actively dealing with parts now?
- I'm sure there are others on the forum.

As far as online wholesalers:
- had a great experience with toyotaofdallas.com and would definitely recommend them
- amayama.com Qualification: if you don't need it in a rush and you're willing to deal with the quirky B2B process I don't think you can get the parts any cheaper (quirky process - submit an 'order inquiry', wait a couple days to hear whether in stock and what the cost with shipping will be - and btw you make one order but it turns into multiple orders based on where it's shipping from). Also their pricing is wierd - some parts ship from UAE, some from Japan with wildly different prices sometimes, but I haven't ever found anyone else near their prices - these are truly wholesale prices. Shipping can get expensive with some parts but even with expensive shipping it's been cheaper than any other source I've foudn for OEM parts.
- shop.cruiserparts.net for new parts, cruiserparts.net for used parts
- I've used lexuspartsnow, no complaints
- Don't think I'd recommend toyotapartsdeal.com, had a less than ideal experience where it took days and lots of requests to find out whether the parts were in stock so I could order somewhere else. I used them more when they were still toyotapartszone. Granted I was antsy but EVERY OTHER parts dealer notified me in a fraction of the time when the part was not in stock and after inquiring I got info from them whereas I used toyotapartsdeal's chat and emailed multiple times and eventually I still didn't even get a straight answer it was if it's in stock [3+ days after my order] it'll ship out immediately otherwise it'll be on backorder. They still hadn't looked up whether the damned parts were in stock or not multiple days into the order. Could have been an anomoly but there are too many other good sources for parts.
- looks like toyotapartseast and toyotapartswest no longer exist.

Of course many other sources for aftermarket or used parts but those come to mind for toyota/lexus parts dealers.
