Why am I selling Lumpy? I've got too many trucks and despite the over $10K I’ve got into it,it's got to go:

The Truck
• 1985 Canadian titled BJ70 with 430,000 kms (267,000 miles). Engine was rebuilt at 390,000 kms, and turbo-ed at 410,000 kms. Great compression all across.

The Good
• Rebuilt 3B with Lebaron Turbo on a 13B-T manifold. 40,000 kms on the rebuild. Makes great power.
• 5 Speed H55F Transmission
• Safari Snorkel
• 2" Belton Suspension kit
• 1.5” body lift
• JDM front and rear 4.11’s with under 40,000 kms on them
• All of the removable body panels have been replaced with new ones. There is some recent evidence that it has been through a couple of Calgary winters since. There is some rust starting on the fender edges and such, but that is surface rust so far.
• Frame is solid and rust free
• New and balanced driveshafts
• New Optima Bluetops – Dual Purpose starting and deep cycle battery.
• Boost, Oil Pressure, and Pyrometer all installed
• American Racing Alloy rims (16x6) with Yokohama Geolander MT’s, all in VERY good shape.
• 12 Volt electrics
• Alpine MP3/CD player, with 4 good speakers

The Bad
• The non-removable body parts are…well, rusty.
• Rear quarters: some recent home-brew body work on both sides (before I owned a welder) has carved out the rust. The rattle-can paint job is showing though.
• Roof: The roof has consistently been the worst part of this truck. It is sealed from the elements but it is rusty and looks crappy.
• Windshield: It looks like it has been through a train wreck. I have a brand new one which isn’t installed. INCLUDED
• Pillars: they are rusty, but not rotted. They are still very solid

The rear seat has been removed, but is included.

This truck is the ideal weekend wheeler. Mechanically it is perfect. If you want a reliable daily driver which wheels happily, this is the one.

The drivetrain is worth $5000. The axles are worth $1000 easy.
Asking $6000 Cdn.

More pictures available on request.

so lumpy,
Would you say your truck needs much work to pass a BC inspection?
It'll need glass obviously, all electical, you probably have an idea. does it start well in cold weather?

Aside from the glass it'll have no problem passing BC or any other inspection. No electrical work required. Everything mechanically on it is great.

It starts great in cold weather. I've installed a manual glow system. When it's -20, you just hold down the button for about 30 seconds, and it starts up right away. If it's still a little rough, you just glow it some more until it evens out.

I guess I was too honest in my description of the body. Oh well, it's no longer for sale. I'm going to part it out instead.

Craig.

is this old enough to bring into the usa?

beaufort -
I had no trouble at all bringing a 1985 BJ70 from BC to the states and getting in legally licensed. PM me if you are seriously considering it.

No actual parting out has been done yet. I guess it's still for sale if someone is interested.

Craig.

Thought I'd refresh this. I've got too many trucks, and since I'm keeping my BJ74 for sure, this one has got to go.

Craig.

I've had a couple of bites on the complete truck, but if they fall through I would consider parting the truck out.

If there is any interest, I'll post a parts list on the Parting Out forum.

Craig.

Bump,

this is a Canadian BJ70 right Lumpy? NOT at JDM.

SO it could be imported into the USA with no problems. ONLY the JDMS are grey.

These Canadian models are not different than importing a 60 series from Canada.

SO if an American wants a legal LHD Canadian diesel 70 this one is a good deal.

Yes, Canadian. Considering the $3000 3B rebuild and the $1000 to install the turbo, not to mention all the other bits and pieces I've attached and or filled up or whatever over the years, this truck is basically 1/2 price.

Trouble is, I can't ask $12,000 for a 22 year old rusty truck without being laughed at.

I forgot to mention, the sliders/bumper are included, but the Warn 8274 and the ARB rear locker are not included in the price, but could be added on if people wanted.

Why sell? Because I have too many trucks and a LHD conversion to pay for on my BJ74.

Thanks Brown Bear.

Craig.

Yes so if it's Canadian it's fine to import into the states. 25 yr rule does not apply to Canadian designated vehicles.

pm'd ya Craig. Hope you got it. If not, call me 604-376-2929 or email me at jeepcherokee@shaw.ca Justin

ENGINE IS SOLD

TRANNY/T-CASE IS SOLD

All other parts are either being kept or are sold.

Thanks for the interest,
Craig.

Since the roof was crappy, would this have been a candidate for roof removal and a fab soft top for a build your own BJ74? If so, I'm sorry I didn't think of it sooner.
