So my roommate had lucky8 regear his disco 2 with 4.10s and Ashcroft lsds. And after 16k miles the rear one had a catastrophic failure. As seen in the picture the pinion bearing was completely smoked, and every single ring gear bolt was loose - 2 completely backed out and were eaten by the ring gear/ pinion. He sent them in for warranty and now lucky8 is telling him that he starved it of oil, which blew the pinion bearing, which then heated the ring gear, which melted the red loctite, then proceeded to vibrate every ring gear bolt loose. They claim that there was water in the diff because of the presence of rust despite him having picture with dates that he received the diff with surface rust in the carrier it. Based on what we diagnosed ourselves it appears that no loctite was even used as there is no residue from it being there and cooked off.

Can diff experts chime in on a way to disprove luck8s claims? And the diff blew up a mile from home.
