my windows squeal and rise slowly on occasion. I suspect it is time to lube track or damage the motors. I was wondering if this is a do it yourself job, and if so, is this a good time to upgrade my speakers?

Start with just lubing the accessible track on the door using silicone spray on a paper towel. I got great improvement with just that on a window that was making a lot of noise and stuttering as it was rolled up.

Liquid Wrench makes a silicone spray that comes with a straw similar to WD-40. Spray it in the window channel and wipe it down so you dont get the stuff everywhere. Start there and see if it helps.

Cheap CRC Silicone spray lube from Walmart. They are all pretty much the same.

Don't dig into the door unless you have to. I am talking about only lubing the top "open" portion of the tracks. This is where you get the most dust and where the motors are working hardest against gravity.
