i bent my load sensing proportional valve rod with my spare tire when i was wheeling. i tried straightening it out but it was really bad, my rear brakes lock up at slow speeds. is there any way u can bypass it or take it off and it will still work?

Tying it up will open up the rear as far as it will go, that might not be a bad thing, but it will also prolly lead to locking the rear more in a panic stop or wet/ snowy etc conditions.

Taking the rod off, will prolly choke off any pressure from getting to it....

Getting a rod at a salvage place would prolly be the safest and easiest bet...

But if you tie it up go practice with it to get used to how it brakes.

You're in for more trouble than it's worth to take it off or bypass it...

Unless you're looking for a reason to buy and install a proportioning valve?

I've often thought about holding it up with an adjustable bolt, a poor mans proportioning valve. That way I could adjust how I wanted it and suspending the bolt or anchor to the frame or bed means at any angle it would keep the adjustment.

cut it and position it at an exceptable position. Or buy the summit manual proportioning valve and install it near the master and tune from there. I think its $50.

ok thanks, yeah i had a loose chain mounting the spare it rocked back and forth and nailed the bar. i took it out and tried to straighten but could only do so much.
