Talk about a loaded question, I had a '71 FJ40 that was a daily driver for 6 years and the longest trip I took it on was 5 hours away and back. I woudn't want to guarantee anything. I drove it around some this summer but the brakes need some work. I would trailer or dolly it.

that is one nice looking pig......:princess:would kill me dead if I brought another project home..........if the 2F is good; should make the trip; last 3 weeks have put over 600 miles on our pig with a 2F........just keep an eye on the fluids and keep it about 55 MPH .......my 2 cents....would be an awsome trip........."eventhough" drove his from MI to SC when he bought it from "Yooper" ; and Cruiser_Guy drove his from Canada to Guatemala..........but with a diesel, incredible scenery!!!!!!!, if you have the time.....go for it:D

Sad Piggy going to slaughter

With the unknown engine situation and being pushed for time and space it looks like I'm going to part out this Pig. I really hate to do it but I guess one gets sacrificed so many others can live on.

I'm not sure how to price out the body or sections of the body for the purposes of meeting MUD requirements. Here are some highlights: The roof drip rails are spotless but the roof has some dents and four bolt holes from the "custom" roof rack. I think it could be a great candidate for a roof transplant if someone needs one. The floors are also spotless with the exception of the areas right above the front body mounts. It would be a great donner for transplanting sections of floor. Let me know if you have any of these needs.

As for individual parts (glass, doors, reflectors, etc.), I'll re-post with a list of parts, prices, etc., etc.. Let the vultures decend. :pig::skull:

I wish this too! If I had the fscking room....

I would actually be interested in the roof, and perhaps if you have the sun visors?

how good or how bad is your 78?......might be better to let the 78 go and keep the 72.........the early pigs seem to be made of a lots better and stronger steel!; my 0.2

When we got the '55 it wouldn't have made it across the street under it's own power, even if it was downhill!! There's been a bit of an improvement over the years since then.

My '78 is nearly cherry (or will be close by the time I'm done). The two are not even close. Time is against me because I already bought this diesel project that I have to pick up next week. If not for the engine issues I'd have had it sold three times over locally. I'm not a choppem' and sellem' kind of guy, more of purist but I'm kind of between a rock and hard spot here.
