I know I have read about this somewhere but now that the 200 is mine and I'm driving it everyday I'm wondering what the noise is when pulling in and out of parking spaces and making really tight slow turns. Sounds like a diff is locked but then it would hop on pavement, right. Is it just the tires pushing? I went thought the stock tires in just 25,000 miles so wondering if this is normal or not.
My wife never mentioned it but I am much more aware than she of the "little things."
Thanks,
Ant

Hi Ant, You would certainly know if you central diff was permanently locked for 25K believe me. Your transfer case and tires would have been fried 24k ago.

I'd say what you are feeling is pretty normal for a permanent 4WD. Just the slightess degree of bind at full lock with a bit of a shudder in the transfer case, right?

The degree of bind can be exacerbated with size and profile of tire no doubt.

Little shutter combined with feels like a push at full lock. Always felt the tires were at a weird angle at full lock. This might to to induce under steer to prevent a roll over.
Too bad I don't have more buddies with LCs. I see one guy occasionally so I will compare with him.
Weird thing is if I drop it into neutral while it's happening the shutter goes away. Thanks for your response.
