I have an 85 60 with 195 k miles. all routine tune up parts have been replaces within the last couple months. The cruiser has been running great and yesterday it would not idol high enough to remain running at stop lights. I would have to keep my foot on the throttle or pull the choke when stopped. Then this morning I was considering driving my Ford to the hunting camp this weekend because I had trouble starting the cruiser, it took three starts when it usually only takes one in warm weather, but on the way to work it ran great and idled perfect when stopped at traffic lights. Could anyone give me some ideas at where to start looking to find the cause of this. I would guess carburetor, fuel filter, or maybe fouled plugs. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

I'd definitely check what you just mentioned first. Also spray the motor down with carb cleaner to check for vacuum leaks.

Two other possibilities.
There is an idle cut solenoid on the carb. It's plastic and green. Can't miss it. It could be the cause of your probs. Lots of posts regarding how it functions (or doesn't!).
Also could be a stuck or sticky EGR valve. This can cause the idle to drop slowly until it quits.

I have this problem sometimes, not often enough to spend the time to fix it. I've learned to put my toe on the brake, and modulate the skinny pedal w/my heel.
