So, I got one of these Volt Minders: http://www.batterystuff.com/inverters/UPGvoltminder.html, as I only have a single Optima yellowtop in my truck, and with an Engel 35, I thought it would be nice to have to monitor the voltage level in the battery.

Now, here's the dilemma. It says in the instructions for the Volt Minder to set the alarm at 12v. However, fully charged, the battery (which is brand new) reads at about 12.2-12.7. When I turn in the fridge, the numbers drop pretty fast and the alarm goes off pretty fast as well.

I know this thing is made for semis and RVs, so my question is: how far can I drain the battery before it won't start? Knowing this, I can reset the alarm.

thanks in advance

Waeco fridges have a selectable low battery cut-off. I set it on low (10.4V) in the summer. I've had the fridge shut down a few times (battery <10.4V) and my 100 is able to start-up fine. I would set the voltage alarm/cut-off higher for cold weather conditions. Bring along one of those portable battery jumpers until you get your aux battery installed.
