Adding oil is most likely a combination of things. Dizzy o-ring and oil pump cover seal are probably leaking. Assuming you can locate a big torque wrench, those are cheap fixes. The other two common leaks are valve cover (easy to change) and rear main (not so easy). My engine is mostly leak free and I add oil every 1500 miles. But I've got 220k miles on it now....
