Any codes stored in the ECU? A failed hard drive should throw a code B15A6.

Was the radio and nav system working before the battery swap? It seems odd, but not implausible, that the Nav unit would die during a battery swap.

I would be looking heavily at fuses and connections along the path (in particular the ground connection) though. Audio and Navigation use the same 15A fuse, but nothing else does. The FSM basically has one useful troubleshooting step if pushing the power button on the radio doesn't turn anything on, and that's to check voltage and resistance at the connector.

I don't know the specific behavior you'd experience if the SD card or hard drive was missing, but it's my understanding that you should be able to get into the diagnostics mode even if the hard drive has failed (or presumably is missing).

I will definitely give this one a try!
The radio and screen were working before the battery swap.

Thanks!

Pulled my multi display and checked the wiring and what not.

Disconnected the battery again plugged it back in etc.

Does anyone know where I can get one on the cheap or send out for repair?

I may just buy a Chinese unit and plug in it's place.

Thanks

Salvage yard? Partsouq doesn't find a match for the part number at all.

Other than finding a wrecked 200 being parted out though a new replacement will be probably 3-4x the cost of one of the Tesla-style screens.

Replacing the battery would not kill the nav/radio unless something was done wrong, like even briefly touching the terminals backwards. Assuming there‘s no blown fuse somewhere, I’m guessing the problem was not have a SD card and when the power came back on the nav/radio didn’t know what to do. Maybe get a SD card off eBay and try the battery reset again?

If you could borrow someone elses card you might be able to duplicate it. There are some pretty simple Linux tools like "dd" which can do a block-for-block copy including hidden data. If there's some sort of encryption on the card that verifies the serial # on the SD card then it might not work though.

My display has gotten stuck on the initial splash screen. Back to normal next time I started it. This system is not without glitches

That was my thought after pulling fuses with no luck.
It's a gamble as there is no return on the Nav card.

I found one for $315 but I am now debating whether to just pick up another unit and try it.
May be able to return the unit.

Good point.

Is there member close by that would let you try their card for the reboot? Then you'd know if buying the card is a fix.

Or only buy a card that has no questions returns...

If the autozone tech connected the battery backwards, it can fry the electronics. Feels like electrical issues after a battery install would mean installer error.

I watched the install. They did it correctly.
My back-up camera on the screen works, that's it.

All fuses are good that I checked.
I couldn't find the TV fuse location. The diagrams shared here and online do not match my fuse covers etc.

Wish I had an SD card to try to see if that is the fix (boot my system).

I did try this by the way to no avail.

Thanks for the info however.

I have decided to put the head unit back together after work.

I am going to bite the bullet on an SD card from Ebay.

It is supposed to ship in roughly 10 days and I will certainly update then!

Check your local LC group and ask if anyone is willing, or see if there used ones anywhere and see if that dealer will let you try out the card. Doesn't hurt to ask.

I went to the dealer and purchased an SD card for Nav for $200.

The dealership I had spoken with prior to that quoted me $900 I believe was full of s***.
Should be here in a few days and I will see if my system will boot.

I did get the dealer to give me a parts only quote for a screen replacement as a backup. ($995)

really hope this fixes the issue so I can start on all the mod ideas I get from fellow IH8MUD members!

!Quick update...

I received and installed my mini SD card for the 2020 Nav update.
Unfortunately the screen still does not come on with the exception of the back up camera.

Question is... do I spend $995 on a replacement or spend $750 on a Tesla style but lose rear entertainment?

Help a brother out!

I also unplugged the battery and checked fuses in all (3) boxes again.

Checked a bunch of plugs for corrosion and lost a clip and fuse in the process.
Really would like to have my radio and Nav back...

I did notice that my USB pug is no longer working, does anyone know which fuse controls that?

Thanks.

I *think* the USB is fed from the Nav unit. If you plug your phone into it, the Nav will recognize your music player. I don't think it's powered independently.

Do you have young kids? They're the only reason to use a fixed rear DVD setup. Once your kids are old enough to use a tablet, just download stuff to it off Netflix or whatever and watch offline.

The Toyota Nav is OK, but it's not great, even in recent models. If you search the forum there are some good examples of people doing this on various model years. The biggest thing to watch out for is finding a unit that works correctly with the fixed climate controls, and one that can still operate the front windshield electronic de-icer.

My $0.02... if my nav unit went out in my 2013, I would remove and sell whatever was working (DVD player, rear DVD screen) and have someone make a custom 3D printed cover for the ceiling hole the DVD screen left, though in your case there's someone who sells a screen removal kit with blanks for pretty cheap. That will likely more than pay for a Tesla-style unit, plus a couple iPads for the kids. (The rear screen retails for $8,000 on my 2013!) My kids are 10, 13, and 15 now though so we've got our use out of the DVD player but we didn't use it on our trip this summer so I think we're done with all 3 agreeing on the same movie.

The USB is definitely powered as I used to use it to charge my phone etc.

My kids are still little and that is why the rear entertainment was a big deal.
Considering I have been driving without a radio and now carry my Bose Mini link to have tunes in the car, the screens are becoming less important to me.

I like to keep things OEM that is why I am hesitant on the purchase of a Chinese unit.

Every time I pick them up they ask me if the screens are working... ugh.
Looks like I will be purchasing tablets here in the future.

I want my damn radio and maybe a little GPS without breaking the bank.
I just got this vehicle and it has been one thing after the other so far consuming up my time with research etc.
