Hey guys, hope you can help.

07 FJ. 4x4 M/T 34k miles

Recently (at around 28k miles)I began to notice a slight hesitation at 1st and 2nd gear, as well as decreased gas mileage (from 20+ to 18mpg), along with an apparent loss of power (sluggish feel). As I was close to 30k miles, I replaced the spark plugs (as well as changing all filters religiously).

This seemed to improve things, but now (34k miles) she's getting sluggish as hell, and I'm down to about 16mpg.

No codes are showing, so I'm a bit lost here. Any ideas?

Thank you.

Try cleaning your MAF sensor. I had about the same thing at 50k miles and now I clean it all the time. Use MAF cleaner and be careful not to damage the sensor.

Cleaned out the MAF today, tomorrow shall see if it made a difference. Thank you!

There's two sensors on the MAP unit, the match looking device is the air temp sensor, the MAF is actually buried in there and is more difficult to see. It's the two wires inside that you have to clean. The only reason I mention it is because some folks clean the air temp sensor only thinking it is the MAF sensor.

Cool. I followed lgrt's write up. I'll post back after I test it today. Thank you.

The last time this happened to me ( but not on my FJC) it was because my injector nozzles were beginning to get clogged. The FJC is designed to perform best with high octane fuel. If you run regular all the time without an occasional hi-test fill up or the regular use of fuel injector cleaner, this could possibly be your problem also. Just my two cents worth.:D

I don't suppose you have recently added new steel bumpers, a lift, rear storage, winch, bigger tires and armor underneath. Added weight = sluggishness. Just figured I would toss that out there... Sometimes the simple answer is overlooked. Best of luck! :)

OK,

I cleaned out the injectors and this seemed to make a helluva difference, more so than cleaning the MAF. No recent add-ons etc. I'll keep an eye on it and post anything relevant. Thank you!

Glad I was of some help. I find that one can of injector cleaner per tankfull helps a lot. ;p
