Loose fog lamps

I have a 2002 LC and ever since I've had it the fog lamps have been "loose". By that I mean I can push on them and they move around a bit. They will not fall out of the openings in the bumper but are just loose. Is this normal? Vehicle had no report (in carfax) of any accidents or anything but I'm a bit suspicious since the fog lamps are loose. Had the vehicle for 5+ years but keep forgetting to ask about this issue.

There isn't much to them on mine (2001 LC). A tab (or two) on one side and a stud on the other. If the bolt that goes on that stud is tight it shouldn't move around.

It's a tab and slot on one side that the lens drops in to, and then a threaded stud on the opposite side that draws it down tight and locks it in place.

If they're moving around, either the tab is broken off, or the nut is backing off the stud.

I had one stud rust off, and it made the fog lamp loose. I pulled it out, dremeled the base, and used Quicksteel to put a bolt in it's place. Aftermarket replacements are pretty cheap on ebay...

if its not one of those issues (or is) - a couple dabs of hot glue is pretty effective for stuff like this...and its immediate and non-permanent
