Welcome to Mahindra & Mahindra International Operations

I've been eyeballing the Mahindra for a few years now with rumors of a US debut. They are supposedly nearly an "ACTUAL" US release for 2011. If I remember right there is a deisel version supposed to be available also.

They've been in business in the Indian Market for a long time and the platform looks to be promising for a mini-utility vehicle like the Hilux used to be.

This one would be sick in a DC but sadly not slated for US release

Apparently the US model will have a multi-link rear end with coils.

105HP 4-cylinder diesel with a 5-speed (only trans available)

And that white one? UGHH... Looks like they stole the doors from a 40 series and stuck them on a Jeep Liberty front end with a wheelbarrow for a bed.

I dig the white one. Looks like a 70 series humped a Tacoma. Picture it with a ute bed... mo betta.

Where do you see a Tacome in that? They both have tires? Just sayin'...

Guess you'r right Mark. When I think of Tacomas I think of the 01-04 body and vertical grill. I forget that Toyota completely fxxxed up the whole "Mini" thing with the 05+ Taco. I see the Mahindra grill and think Taco when most others would think Jeep and I can definitely see the Liberty referance you made earlier being perfectly valid.

Regardless, I still dig the DC in a ute format as a DD truck with potential.

I know what you mean. This...

With parts of this:

And Toyota makes a 200 series DC Ute... :meh:

And just for the hell of it a badass 70 series rock crawler ute...

Now ya catch my drift. The 200 ute is FUGLY but it doesn't really matter anyway, we ain't getting the Bolero here. Just like every other "useable" utility truck throughout the world... the US get hosed.

Yea, I've been eyeing these as well. Last I heard, the first dealership is suppose to open in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. This was over a year ago I heard this, not sure if it happened yet.

I dig the white one. Looks like a 70 series humped a heep cherokar. Picture it with a ute bed... mo betta.

They are seen pretty often in the Caribbean. My casual research says they don't have the best reputation, seen as cheap, less than reliable, etc. Haven't heard a price, but rumor has it mid-high 20K, IMHO high for what it is. Likely marketed to the "got to have a diesel and willing to pay for it" crowd.

Hopefully they will have some success, may prod some of the manufactures back into the abandoned mini truck market. Maybe Toyota will import the Hilux?

i was kinda excited about them till i saw one in person and sat in it a couple yrs back. very small,, way smaller than a tacoma.

It is a mini truck, a category that has been abandoned in the US. The Taco has grown to close to huge in comparison, bigger than the T100? When you see a Hilux, it is easy to think Taco, until you see them side by side, the Taco is huge in comparison.

Other than length, the new Taco, first gen Tundra and T100 are very close.
