To try out my 07 FJ Cruiser. It's not modified yet but I'm dying to see it off road. Anyone have any suggestions on areas to check out? Thoughts would be appreciated.

Not that I know of, too close to populations in that area....
....there is the event at the end of July (28th) at the Cliffs in IL, and there is another small gathering of FJ'ers in Janesville WI on the 21st....Not_His_FJ is organizing that one, and would be a GREAT starter weekend for ya!
