Is this mainly about your engine shut off problem? . It wouldn't be hard to put it on yourself. If you use a mechanic, make sure he has experience in these systems.
This Australian company rebuilds them for $185 if you need one and cant get one locally 28571-56120 EDIC Fuel Control Motor Landcruiser BJ42 BJ70 BJ73 Serviced Exchange

Thank you loads for your care and attention, appreciate very much.
As I only have basic skills, especially in diesel (so far) I need a mechanic with experience to go over it. Besides the shut off problem there are a few other things and loads of questions. Looking forward to find the right mechanic and learn as much as possible step by step. Feel that this site and community will be of great help and sharing. Cheers

You should ask about these problems on here before you see a mechanic. See if what he says is the same as what we say. Ive lost count of the number of complaints about mechanics who thought they knew all about Toyota diesels.

Which is rather ironic, given that the 3b is not exactly a complex engine. I now find myself quizzing mechanics about what an EDIC is. If they don't know, why would I pay them to find out at $95/hr? I don't doubt that they could figure it out, but there are savings and opportunities to learn to be had among us LC owners by turning to this forum and giving some of our issues a think. That is, if that is your cup of tea..

In Australia, we separate mechanics in to petrol or diesel. Not many work on both. With mechanics being unfamiliar with Toyota diesels, it can help if you know something that can point them in the right direction.
