I'm looking for some local land to hunt - mostly deer but some turkey. I have a small spread I frequent in Newberry County but I would like to find something closer where I can sit during the evening when I can sneak out of work early. I'm not a fan of hunting public land so if anyone knows of some private land that needs some "game management" I would be happy to lend a hand and share any game taken!

Old college roommate was a member of a huge club in Orangeburg SC. It was a hunting preserve for about 20 years, but was just recently sold to a developer.

That's really the key Steve. Knowing someone with land or knowing someone that knows someone with land that wouldn't mind giving you permission to practice QDM while being a good steward of their property.

Unfortunately, those days are becoming fewer and fewer for lots of reasons; namely disrespectful, lazy SOB, morans...

You can always join a club. Word of mouth / referrals could ensure you join up with like-minded folks.

An on-line search can give you a quick idea of examples of what's out there:

Other choices are:

1. Buying your own land
2. Get a group of friends to find and initiate your own lease
3. Hunting public land (can be OK depending upon many factors)
4. Paying for a guided hunt (won't work on a quick twilight trip after work)

Hey, it is an hour and half away but our family has a good little hunting tract. Lots of deere and turkey. Let me know we'll go.

I know you don't like public land, but the Horse Pasture doesn't get all that much traffic and it's big enough that it's pretty easy to find a place where no one goes. I've got GPS(or used to) of all that land and roads if you'd like it. Of course you can probly find better at work with your resources. Even that's still a bit of drive for you though. If I hear of anything, then I'll let you know.

I need to bump this up a bit.

I still need a fairly 'local' place to deer hunt that is private and not overrun with stupid hunters. I'm a VERY safe hunter and don't like stupid people running around making asses of themselves. Quiet, respectful, clean up after others, etc.

Any leads?
